Welcome to FileConvert. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the FileConvert website and its file conversion tools (collectively, the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using FileConvert, you confirm that you are at least 13 years of age and agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms. We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time, and your continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of any changes.

2. Description of Service

FileConvert provides free, browser-based file conversion tools. All file processing is performed locally on the user's device using client-side JavaScript technologies including HTML5 Canvas, pdf-lib, and heic2any. We do not host, store, transmit, or access user files in any way. The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind.

3. User Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms.
  • Not attempt to disrupt, overload, or interfere with the Service or its associated infrastructure.
  • Not use the Service to process files that contain malware, viruses, or other harmful content.
  • Not use automated tools, bots, or scripts to access or use the Service without written permission.
  • Take responsibility for maintaining backups of your original files, as we do not store any data.
  • Ensure that you have the legal right to convert and use any files you process through the Service.

4. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, code, content, and branding, is owned by FileConvert and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works from any part of the Service without our prior written consent.

You retain full ownership of any files you process using the Service. We claim no rights, interest, or ownership over your content.

5. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure. We are not responsible for any loss of data, even though our architecture is designed to prevent data loss by never transmitting files off your device.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, FileConvert and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from your use of or inability to use the Service. In no event shall our total liability exceed the amount you paid us for the Service (which is currently zero, as the Service is free).

7. File Conversion Accuracy

While we strive to provide accurate file conversions, we do not guarantee that converted files will be free of errors or completely lossless. Different file formats use different compression algorithms, and some quality variation may occur during conversion. Users are solely responsible for verifying that converted files meet their requirements before relying on them for any purpose.

8. Third-Party Links and Content

Our Service may contain links to third-party websites or services that are not owned or controlled by FileConvert. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services. We strongly advise you to read the terms and privacy policy of any third-party site you visit.

9. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the Service immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including without limitation if you breach these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will cease immediately.

10. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in the appropriate courts of competent jurisdiction.

11. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time at our sole discretion. If a revision is material, we will try to provide at least 30 days' notice prior to any new terms taking effect. What constitutes a material change will be determined at our sole discretion.
